Steps to resolve underground mining in the Animation view:

Check 1: Setup > Between Benches > Expand Distance

Make sure the Expand Distance is not set to (none).
If the Expand Distance is negative, make the absolute value is less than half the width of the smallest block on the bench. (Negative numbers allow under-cutting).
