Steps to resolve underground mining in the Animation view:

Check 1: Setup > Dependencies > Between Benches > Expand Distance

Make sure the Expand Distance is not set to <None>.
If the Expand Distance is negative, make sure the absolute value is less than half the width of the smallest block on the bench. (Negative numbers allow under-cutting).
