RR. Bench Preconditioning

The Bench Preconditioning step allows users to send material between benches where it makes sense to do so. Common scenarios where this may occur are sump shots, shallow contour areas and ramp preconditioning. This step should not be used to send remnants to the below benches. This can be achieved in the following step, see PS. Bench Depletion.

This step is exclusively to configure contour and ramp shots. DO NOT use this step to deplete benches or flitches!

Defining Areas

Areas within the bench to be reallocated need to be defined by a closed polygon that can be created using the CAD tools in the viewport toolbar. The CAD tools are found in various other steps within Rapid Reserver and behave in the same manner, except for two buttons, Generate Ramp Shots and Add Contours, circled in red in the figure below.

Description

The Generate Ramp Shot button can be used to automatically draw a closed polygon around a section of ramp that is less than a user-defined depth. This ramp section can then be pushed to the bench above to be included in the drilling of the bench above.

Set Ramp Shot Minimum and Maximum Angles (in degrees), specify a Depth and flag Clear Existing Designs option, if required.

The Generate Contours button can be used to draw a construction line around contour sections that are below a defined height. A closed polygon can then be created by using this generated line and other CAD tools. The resultant polygons can then be pushed down to the bench below.

Specify a Contour Height in the Contour Settings dialog

Reassigning Material

Choosing what to do with the material enclosed within a polygon can be made by right-clicking on the polygon and selecting an option from dropdown.

Bench Silhouettes

It is important to understand, that the benches dealt with in Bench Preconditioning are based on the Original Phase Solids, not the depleted Phase Solid. This means that material sent between benches can affect the final silhouettes of the benches. Two simple examples of this are shown in the images below.
